Canopy Tour
The guests traverse from tree to tree and platform to platform
using pulleys on horizontal traverse cables, as they sail through
the treetops of the tropical rainforest canopy, and over the trails
far below. Expert guides assist you in this exciting journey through
the different layers of the virgin rain forests and explain whats
going on around you, from the time you leave the ground, until
you rappel back down to the forest floor.
The Original Canopy Tour is a new adventure sport, invented (
patent pending ) and developed in Costa Rica by our founder
Darren Rennick By modifying techniques and equipment originally
used by spelunkers (caverns) and canyon rappelers,
THE Original
CANOPY TOURŪ offers any adventurous tourist
the opportunity to ascend into the forest canopy and see jungle
life from a perspective available previously to only a select
few researchers and photographers.
The main objective is to provide tourists a unique activity and
ecological experience while, at the same time, helping to aid
in the preservation of the worlds endangered rain forests through
direct financial support to conservation, education and reforestation
efforts.
THE IGUANA PARK CANOPY TOUR:
Iguana Park Canopy Tour is situated in the primary
jungle area and is about a 40 minute hike from the tourist center.
The tour consists of 3 platforms, 2 traverses
and a rappel. The clients start off on a hill and climb a small
ladder to the first platform located in a Guanacaste tree about
15 meters high. From there they traverse to the second platform
in a strangler fig 32 meters high. After a brief explanation of
the rainforest levels (especially those of the cathedral forest
in Iguana Park) the clients make their "leap of faith"
across the forest floor to the 3rd platform, 44 meters high in
a Kapok tree. This is the tree on the photo in the brochures.
Following this they rappel back down to the ground level.
The climate at Iguana Park is very warm and usually
humid. This is a tropical transition forest between the dry lowland
forests of the north and the wet rainforests of the south and
is therefore rich in biodiversity, both plants and animals.
Due to the hot climate, clients are recommended
to wear shorts and a t-shirt and to bring a change of clothing,
as they will get either sweaty or wet from the rain. There are
shower facilities at the park.
Insect repellant, camera and binoculars are also
recommended. The tour lasts about 3 1/2 hours.
Walk-in Rates....... Like ... If you get to the park in a rent
